A Deeper Look at the Chefman TurboFry 3.5 Liter Air Fryer
Capacity: 3.6 quarts/3.5 liters
To be honest, 3.6 quarts may seem like a lot of room for cooking. However, that’s the capacity of the basket. Chefman recommends working in small batches and to not stack certain foods. If you’re only able to cook proteins like steak or chicken on the oil plate, the amount of food you can cook is limited to the diameter of the basket, not the internal capacity. The diameter is 8.25 inches which means you won’t even be able to fit a standard 9 inch pie plate in the basket.
Materials Used in the Turbo Air Fryer
The basket and plate are Teflon coated. This type of material is known to chip and peel after a while.
This machine also has a “cool touch” build which keeps the sides of the outside of the air fryer cool. This is a nice safety feature, especially when you have younger kids using it to make their own snacks.
All plastic materials are BPA free.
Color: Matte Black
This is a welcome change from the heavy sighs you make every time you walk past a shiny black appliance with fingerprints all over it.
Watts: 1200
It would have been nice to see a wider range of watt options. It’s a good thing to keep in mind when you’re planning on taking your air fryer on the road and have a limited power supply.
Temperature Range
200° to 400° Fahrenheit | 93° to 204° Celsius
User Interface:

There are two versions of this air fryer. The model with a digital screen has white LED lights.
Both models run on a simple timer.
Presets: None. There are no presets for this Chefman air fryer. It’s set up like a regular oven with a timer.
Air frying is pretty standard. Reheating food is recommended to be done at about 300° for up to 10 minutes, depending on the thickness of whatever it is you’re reheating.
Alerts: It rings like an old fashioned bell when it finishes cooking. It also shuts off automatically after 60 minutes.
Cleaning: The basket and plate are dishwasher-safe. You can wash them by hand but be sure to never use harsh abrasives or heavy-handed scrubbing to clean these items. It will cause the Teflon to chip away.
Dimensions
Machine: 14.25 x 13 x 12.75 inches
This isn’t a massive appliance but you can’t just tuck it away in the corner, either.
Basket:
- Diameter: is 8.25 inches diameter
- Depth: The basket is 3 inches deep.

The heat exhaust is located on the back and there are also vents on top. Keep objects away from this area when in use. Always pull this air fryer out from underneath any overhanging cabinets before using.
Accessories: There are no accessories included with this air fryer.

Video Review
This video is for the dial version of the Chefman and is as much a how-to video for cooking chicken breasts.
Three things we can take away from her review:
- The basket holds three pieces of chicken.
- She didn’t preheat the machine. This can affect the cooking time.
- The handle gets very hot. Why have a Cool Touch feature on the sides if you can burn yourself on the part of the appliance that you absolutely have to touch?
What Others Say About the Chefman TurboFry Air Fryer
What the Owners Like
As we stated at the beginning, there are a lot of fans of this air fryer. It’s a very straightforward machine.
Most aren’t looking to cook their entire meal in their air fryer and it works very well for them. It cooks up food quickly and thoroughly.
What to Look Out For
While there are super fans of this air fryer, there are others who asked for a refund almost immediately. The coating on non-stick plate started to chip off almost immediately. Avoid spraying non-stick spray inside the basket.
Our Take

We’re not completely sold on the idea that the basket doesn’t have a release mechanism to separate the food from the drippings. There are few things more annoying than turning out a basket of food only to have the grease drip unceremoniously over the top of your dish. Plus, it isn’t really that easy to clean. If any grease spatters outside the basket while it’s running (and it will,) you’ll have to reach into an electrical appliance to remove grease from the inside of the machine. That just isn’t a pleasant thought no matter how we try to spin it.
We like the Cool Touch feature and the one hour timer but don’t love how hot the handle gets.
Since the lowest temperature is 200°, it won’t dehydrate foods efficiently.
The Chefman Turbofry turns out some tasty apps and sides without a lot of bells and whistles. It isn’t a super, multi-functional cooker with a rotisserie spit, but that means it takes up less counter space, too. If you don’t have any ambitions of cooking entire meals with an air fryer, this machine is an affordable, no-frills option.

Tips on Using the Chefman TurboFry Quart Air Fryer
Like any other cooking technique, smaller pieces will cook faster than large pieces. It’s important to keep an eye on these to avoid burning. This is an important tip for all small air fryers and convection ovens.
They recommend cooking most things in small batches. Circulating air is the most important component of efficient air-frying. Stacking heavy proteins like chicken wings just won’t give you the results you’re looking for.
Recommended reheating temperature is 300° F for up to ten minutes.
Avoid thin batters like tempura. Thin batters won’t set up fast enough and will just run off your food, leaving you with a gooey mess.
